I know that without this “that is not here”, there would not be “this which now is”

I and Self seem to be permeable in the dark, if not in the light. In the darkness objects lose their physicality of presence, however they do not disappear. Even if the mirror is completely black, a surprising amount can be seen. Looking on the other as my own reflection, I know that without this “that is not here”, there would not be “this which now is”. A certain absence must always accompany myself. This absence, this nothingness, is identified with this reflected image which is now identified with my presence, my being. The most difficult point is to find the elusive, imperceptible barrier between Self and self-awareness in order to cross it later on.
